Kash’unta Thurman (pronounced Kah-she-un-ta) goes by Shunte.
She has worked as an Executive Assistant in the professional realm for over 20 years. Her career began at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) in 2001. She was the Executive Assistant to the Regional Director of TDCJ of Region V from 2001-2005.
Kash’unta entered the wonderful world of education in 2007. Her husband was relocated to Lubbock, Texas for a better job opportunity. There, she worked as the Administrative Assistant to the Coordinator of the Advanced Technology Center for the Lubbock Independent School District (LISD). In this capacity, she was responsible for offering assistance to 14 specialized teachers offering career readiness curriculum. Due to her exceptional performance, she was promoted to central office staff within 3 yrs. It was there in 2011 she joined the Curriculum Department and became the Administrative Assistant to the Math and Science Coordinator each supervising 4 departmental instructional coaches. Kash’unta has worked at the administration level for Ector County Independent School District (ECISD) since 2014. During that time, she served as Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of Elementary and Executive Assistant to the Executive Director of Secondary, as well as the Executive Assistant to the 5 Executive Directors of Leadership. Her current role is the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Schools for ECISD. In this role, Mrs. Thurman not only supports the Chief of Schools, the 4 Executive Directors of Leadership, and 2 Directors, but she also provides support for each head principal and campus secretary in the entire district of ECISD.
Shunte has been happily married to Assistant Head Football Coach of Midland Senior High School, Kirk Thurman since 2005. Together they have 2 sons: Tyler and Khrisztian.

Shunte comes from a large loving family. In total there are 8 siblings, 5 biological and 3 adopted. Knowing how to organize and keep order is a necessity when trying to coordinate a sizable family that enjoys sharing space and company with one another.
This year God gave Shunte a vision.
Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
